About Daniel

Daniel is mainly an existential psychotherapeutic counsellor. He has worked with a wide range of client difficulties but his main areas of focus are around neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism etc), abuse in childhood and LGBTQIA+ related issues.

Although these three areas differ drastically from each other they all still make it very challenging for people to function within society. Whether that is struggling with loud noises and big crowds, having flashbacks and panic attacks spontaneously or experiencing
prejudice/oppression from strangers in public.

All of these things can have a massive impact on our self esteem and can leave us feeling extremely anxious to do anything.

Daniel’s counselling base is in existentialism which means he will aim to explore your unique world experience in a safe and non judgemental space. Helping you to: develop a deeper self awareness, understand current patterns of behaviour and  process previous and current life difficulties. Daniel also explores areas of psychodynamic counselling, meaning that he will help you to understand how previous life experiences may be influencing you in current day to day life. Daniels main focus is on the counselling relationship, working towards building a trusting and honest relationship as most counselling styles don’t work if there isn’t trust.

It is within the counselling space that Daniel gives teenagers the space and opportunity to talk through their struggles and understand what is causing them to feel the way that they do. Daniel will give your teenager strategies to identify, manage, and overcome negative emotions. This approach can help teens work though: gender and sexuality struggles, bullying, exam stress, etc.

Daniels main area of specialism is working with neurodiversity (ASD, ADD, ADHD). Helping neurodivergent clients to explore how their brains work and ways to work through their everyday struggles.. In addition to the above, he is also experienced in working with gender and sexuality issues, as he is GSRD aware.

What its like to work with me:

Sessions with Daniel are about having a safe space to talk about and explore whatever you wish to discuss. If you find the sessions difficult or daunting, as a lot of people do, Daniel will help to make you as relaxed as possible and slowly try to guide you towards what it is you wish to explore in counselling. Daniel aims to leave as much control in yours hands as possible, meaning that topics will only be discussed when you feel safe and ready to do so.
