About Rebecca

My approach is Person-Centred at its core: you are the expert on your own life, in full control of what you bring to our sessions and the direction we take.

My role is to offer a genuine, empathetic, and non-judgmental space, asking the right questions to help you explore your experiences and process difficult feelings safely and kindly. Through this process, you will gain the clarity and tools needed to build a manageable, more connected life.

I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling Practice at York St John University and now practice professionally at Serendipity Counselling.

Having completed training in Transactional Analysis (TA 101), I draw on its principles to explore how our internal dynamics shape our connections with ourselves and others. By understanding how past conditioning impacts current communication, we can break unhelpful relational patterns and build a foundation of self-respect, nurture, and mutual understanding.

I have trained with Michael Goulding on Fear and Attachment in Adult Life, and I draw deeply on the work of Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Richard Schwartz. Integrating Compassionate Inquiry and Internal Family Systems (parts work), I help clients navigate trauma, overcome self-judgment, and cultivate radical self-acceptance. To further enrich my work with the mind-body connection, I am currently undertaking advanced training in Trauma-Informed Somatic Counselling.

I can help you navigate anxiety, depression, bereavement, overwhelming sensations, or periods of emotional numbness. My work covers complex feelings like fear and abandonment, as well as relational and work-related issues—including redundancy and retirement. I support men’s and women’s mental and emotional health across all ages, guiding you through life's major transitions.

What is it like to work with me

When you arrive, you can expect warmth, empathy, and openness within a relationship built on the understanding that our most challenging traits and experiences are not character flaws or failures. Whatever you choose to bring, we will explore with gentle curiosity.

Compassion is central to my practice. It is an intentional way of working that brings insight and softness to your life—helping you understand your individual needs, navigate traumatic reactions, release self-judgment, and achieve true self-acceptance.

My approach merges Person-Centred therapy with Compassionate Inquiry and parts work (IFS). Together, this integrative practice connects the mind, body, and emotions to enhance how you relate to yourself and the world around you.

Personally, to work with me means to work with someone who loves people. I frequently find that people’s criticism of themselves is ever-present and painful, and talk therapy provides a space to create a different inner dialogue which is kinder, patient and much more realistic. People are frequently way more ‘ok’ than they believe they are. What lies in the shadows is there waiting to shine a light on. I am always impressed by the courage of people who come to therapy to explore difficult things.
